Time to call it a career.
I’ve been at this for a very long time and I think I’m done. I’ve seen too many mistakes, too many missed opportunities to really make this industry work. The latest crop of Architectural Design applications has missed the “boat” on a lot of levels. I tried to be a voice for the designer, but I’m just spitting in the wind.
I’ve seen old CAD systems try to be “BIM” just by adding features. I’ve seen a new crop of applications that have ignored the past and tried to develop new paradigms, but have lost the word “productivity.” I’ve seen an industry that won’t develop open standards needed to move beyond “Single Solutions.”
This has been a very difficult career for me as many of you know. Even putting my toe back into with blog and other very limited opportunities proved that I get too passionate about all this and my health suffers for it. Not worth it!
I wanted to show developers that I could help with their software to try to overcome problems of the past, but without the support of the industry to develop their own standards, this has become impossible.
I’m on to other things - my voice-over work, AI voice support, a font for drummers, and many other things as a take a deep breath into retirement.
I hope you all stay in touch and reach out if there’s anything you want to chat about – I’m still here.
Thanks again for listening, sincerely;
